Glue-on Shoes Stephen E. O’Grady, DVM One of the first papers I presented was at the 45th Annual AAEP Convention in 1999 in Albuquerque, NM on How to Glue on Therapeutic Shoes. My co-author on the paper was the late / great farrier Eddie Watson. The study was based on 50 horses that we did together and over the next few years we did many more cases. I have always and continue to use the direst glue method. However, I no longer routinely glue on many shoes but the technique remains an excellent option when this type of farriery is indicated. The technique I described in the paper is basically the same as I would use today. When I presented this paper in 1999, slides were still being used for presentations prior to the introduction of power point. As a result, there are no pictures or illustrations in the paper that show the glue-on technique. In 2011, Dr. Scott Morrison from Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY created an excellent video for Equilox® which shows a much-refined version of the technique described in my paper.
